Where Our Roots Began

Our founder started working in tourism in the early years of Peru´s tourism growth, long before the industry became what it is today. Over the years, he worked as a guide, receiving travelers from all over the world and witnessing firsthand the transformation of tourism in our country.

Like many small family business, the journey was not always easy. Circumstances beyond his control, economic changes, and later the impact of the pandemic made it difficult to build the project to its full potential. Yet, despite the challenges, tourism remained an important part of our lives.

A New Chapter

Years later, as the tourism industry slowly began recovering after the pandemic, a new chapter started.

I became involved in the family business, first as an assistant accompanying my father on his work, and later as someone willing to continue the path he had started

At first, tourism was not necessarily my passion. However, as time passed, I began to appreciate something much deeper than the business itself. I discovered how much I valued my culture, my region, my origins, and the stories that surround them.

Through tourism, I found a way to connect with all of these things.

As the company began again, we wanted to approach things a little differently. While every business needs to be sustainable, our focus became less about selling as many tours as possible and more about creating the kind of experience we would genuinely like to receive ourselves.

We believe that warmth, honesty, attention to detail, and genuine interest in the people who travel with us are what create the memories that stay long after a journey ends.

Tourism was and it´s giving me the opportunity to be close to my culture, my country, my roots.

What We Learned Along the Way

As I became more involved in tourism, I began to see both its strengths and its weaknesses.

I met incredible people who were passionate about sharing Peru with visitors, but I also noticed situations that made me reflect. Sometimes experiences felt rushed, details were overlooked, or culture was presented in a way that felt disconnected from the people behind it.

Those observations were not meant to criticize others. Instead, they encouraged us to think about how we wanted to approach tourism ourselves.

We believe that travel is not only about visiting places. It is also about understanding the people, traditions, and stories that give those places their identity.

Beyond the Andes was born from that reflection. We wanted to create experiences that felt personal, respectful, and honest while sharing the culture and landscapes we have come to appreciate over the years.

Travel With Care

One of the decisions we made from the beginning was to keep our operation small and personal.

Working with a lower volume of travelers allows us to dedicate more time, attention, and energy to every journey. Instead of focusing on quantity, we prefer to focus on quality and meaningful relationships with the people who travel with us.

We like to keep communication direct, reduce unnecessary intermediaries whenever possible, and remain available throughout the planning process and the journey itself.

Travel is deeply personal. We believe the service behind it should be as well.

Looking Ahead

As Beyond the Andes continues to grow, we hope to contribute to causes that are meaningful to us.

Throughout the Andes, there are communities facing challenges that many travelers never have the opportunity to see. Limited access to education, healthcare, and opportunities continues to affect many families living in remote areas.

Our founder experienced some of those realities firsthand while growing up, which is one of the reasons why supporting people and communities remains important to us.

In the future, we hope to participate in social projects, educational initiatives, healthcare campaigns, and other efforts that can positively impact the lives of those who need support.

We also care deeply about animal welfare and hope to contribute to projects that help stray dogs and cats in our communities.

These are long-term aspirations rather than promises. We are still building our path, but we believe that growth is most meaningful when it creates opportunities to give back.
